§ 78-76. Net metering.

  • For the purposes of this section, the term "net metering" shall mean the measurement of electric energy flowing both into, and out of, a customer's facilities for the purpose of offsetting the customer's liability for electric energy from the City of Rayne Electric Distribution System ("system") by the customer's production of electric energy. At the discretion of the City of Rayne ("city"), net metering facilities can be limited to 25 kilowatts (kW) for residential applications; and 300 kilowatts (kW) for commercial and agricultural applications.

    Net metering facilities may be permitted to interconnect with the system by acceptable completion of the following:

    1.

    Application for interconnecting a net metering facility, the cost for said application is $100.00 for net metering facilities less than 25 kW and $200.00 for facilities between 25 kW and 300 kW.

    2.

    Meeting the terms and conditions as set forth by the "City of Rayne Net Metering Interconnection Standards".

    3.

    Execution of a "Net Metering Interconnection Agreement" with the city.

    Any customer interconnecting net metering facilities with the system shall, in all cases, be fully responsible for the protection of the system and of persons and property caused by the interconnection of the customer's net metering facilities, including, but not limited to (1) protection from harm to any personnel or damage to any equipment; (2) unacceptable levels of stability of the system; or (3) operation of the net metering facilities outside of established parameters affecting the quality of service to other customers connected to the system. Once interconnected to the system, net metering facilities shall not be modified without prior notice to, and prior approval by, the city.
